STEVEN YOUNG LEE breaks open what lies inside. His work uses the techniques, color, and material of various ceramic traditions to shatter, often literally, the forms that shape them. The son of Korean immigrant parents, Lee takes pieces of disparate cultures to create what is wholly his own. He is the former director of the Archie Bray Foundation and has lectured extensively at universities in Asia and North America. His work is found in many private and public collections, including the Smithsonian. He lives in Helena.
